Homemade breadcrumbs are incredibly easy, fresher than store‑bought, and perfect for everything from meatballs to casseroles. Use them fresh or dry them out for long‑term storage.
Place your stale bread in a food processor and blend until you have fine breadcrumbs. Use as is fresh or dry them out.
To Dry Breadcrumbs: Preheat your oven to 250°F. Places the crumbs on a baking tray and bake for roughly 15 minutes or until dry and crisp stirring every few minutes.
Store the fresh breadcrumbs in the fridge for up to 1 week. Store the dried breadcrumbs in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks in the cupboard. Also, you can freeze them for up to 4 months.
